Drag...drop...to what, where, why?

What is it that you are trying to accomplish?

:thumbup2: , reason I asked was the fact that I never drag/drop...I don't like the margin for error (putting files where I did not intend to) and I've always just used cut/paste to move files because I think it's more reliable.

That's why I like to right click the file/folder and hold it, then drag it to where you want it. When you let go of the right click a menu pops up asking if you want to move, copy or place a shortcut.

Type Regedit in the Search box. Double click. Browse to this registry key.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

What are the values for these entries?

DragWidth

DragHeight

Sure I can try and help, I have seen a stuck escape key do that, can you try tapping it a few times to see if it frees up?

If I press and hold my esc key and try to drag and drop it won't.

EDIT: Also have heard that texter from lifehacker.com will cause that.

DragWidth       4

DragHeight      4

A high value would prevent drag and drop but your values are correct.

Edit: Can you Drag and Drop in Safe Mode?

Edit Edit: Make sure Drag and Drop is enabled in your Start Menu Customize Settings. If it is checked, uncheck and select Okay. Then re-check the box and select okay.

hHmm, JohnC I tried unchecking that option and can still drag and drop.

I agree with trying it in safe mode, He may have a program causing this.
