Thank you for your quick reply fireman4it, I was waiting patiently for somebody to pick this up as requested, but never got an email when you updated this thread. I just happened to check back to see if there was any activity.

I will probably get to this this weekend.

Sorry for the delay.

UPDATE: Notification problem solved. There was an old Email address in my profile.

Yes, still here. I tried to run these programs earlier today using remote support software, and eset removed poweliks. After the reboot, we were not able to connect up again to run adwcleaner. I will have to go to his house Tue or Wed to run it. It appears he has picked up cryptowall 3.0 since I did the original scans.

At this point, do you think it may just be easier to wipe the computer and reinstall from the installation disks or should we continue with this process?

If you have the means to wipe and reinstall i woould do that. Let me know what you choose to do. Please follow the following directions if you want to continue cleaning the machine.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

  • Right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button.
  • It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Please copy and paste log back here.
  • The first time the tool is run it generates another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST.exe/FRST64.exe). Please also paste that along with the FRST.txt into your reply.
