Hi

1. Download CWShredder: Download here. Unzip it on your Desktop. Don't use it yet.

2. Download this tool from Symantec: Backdoor.Agent.B Removal Tool and save it on your Desktop. Follow Symantec's instructions for how to run it.

3. When the removal process is finished you will find a log on your Desktop . Don't delete it. Please copy & paste the contents of the log as a reply to this post.

4. Restart the computer.

5. Make sure all browser windows are closed and run cwshredder.exe, and click on the FIX button (not the "Scan only" button) and let it scan your computer.

6. Run HijackThis! again and post a fresh together with the Symantec Tool log.
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?

The system cannot find the path specified.

Hi

Please print or copy these instructions because you are not able to access the Internet in SafeMode.

Make sure you are set to show hidden files and folders:
A. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
B. Click the View tab.
C. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
D. Uncheck Hide extensions for known filetypes and Hide protected operating system files.
How to see hidden files in Windows

REBOOT into SafeMode by tapping F8 key repeatedly at bootup: Starting your computer in Safe mode

Run HijackThis!, press Scan, and put a check mark next to all these:

O2 - BHO: MultiMPPObj Class - {002EB272-2590-4693-B166-FBD5D9B6FEA6} - C:\WINDOWS\multimpp.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [pzhyhgbwhno] C:\WINDOWS\System32\nyandbv.exe

Close all other windows and browsers, and press the Fix Checked button.

Search for these files and delete them if found:
C:\WINDOWS\multimpp.dll <-- this file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\nyandbv.exe <-- this file

Empty the Recycle Bin.

REBOOT normally.

Copy and paste the contents of the following quotebox into Notepad:

dir C:\WINDOWS\System32\r?ndll32.exe /a h > files.txt
notepad files.txt

Save it as FindFile.bat and save it on your Desktop.

Locate FindFile.bat on your Desktop and double-click on it. It will open Notepad with some text in it. Please post the text here.

Run HijackThis! again and post a new log please.
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?

Hi

Please read carefully !!!

You may find two files with the same name in the C:\WINDOWS\System32\ folder: rundll32.exe. One is bad and one is legitimate. You must delete the bad file only. Right click on each file and select Properties. In the General tab the legitimate file has this Description: Run a DLL as an App and Size = 31,744 bytes. Do not delete this file.
The bad file has this Size = > 389,120 bytes.

If there is only one file with this name: rundll32.exe run the registry script below to unhide the bad file:

Copy the contents of the Quote box to Notepad, and save in a location of your choice as Unhide.reg (make sure to save as type: "All Files")

Doubleclick Unhide.reg, and answer 'yes' when prompted to add its contents to the Registry, then restart your computer.

This is only for XP or 2000 systems

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
"SearchSystemDirs"=dword:00000001
"SearchHidden"=dword:00000001
"IncludeSubFolders"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"Hidden"=dword:00000001
"ShowSuperHidden"=dword:00000001

REBOOT your computer and search for the bad file and delete it: rundll32.exe = 389,120 bytes

REBOOT and post a new log please.
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
