I was trying to download a YouTube video to show it offline at a presentation and like an idiot I installed an app (which actually worked) but came with something called Bright Browse that appears to be crapware and cannot be uninstalled through normal means.  It's currently installed as a Firefox add on as a toolbar that cannot be disabled.

Searching for removal options I came across something called Windows Uninstaller but at this point I am not wanting to install more stuff I am not 100% sure of!

Has anyone run across this toolbar?  They have a website, it looks to be maybe borderline legit, but any program that does not allow for uninstall cannot be good!

Thanks in advance for any help or comments!

UPDATE:  Ok, maybe this was not as bad as I thought.  Bright Browse was a Firefox add-on extension I allowed as part of allowing another add-on extension, SaveFrom.net, which is the video download app I wanted.

I was able to remove the Bright Browse extension through the Firefox options and now I just have the SaveFrom.net extension, which I think actually works as intended.

The Bright Browse toolbar is now gone from Firefox, yay!  I still think it's a bit shady in that they don't provide much removal guidance and the toolbar cannot be disabled using the typical toolbar menu.

I also ran Malware Bytes while I was at it, so I got a few more things cleaned up to boot.

Anyway, not sure if this will help anyone, but hopefully I am not infected too bad.  I'll probably keep the SaveFrom.net extension for a bit longer, although I also think it is a bit suspect since it appears to have come bundled with Bright Browse.

Have a great day!

Mark
