Because of Virus Infection, tried XP repair last year and after much TLC system is better but still Crashes randomly and the Sysytem must be Manually shut down and Manually restarted.  Tried various registry repairs, tried PCMatic, tried Spybot.

At one point found Working Setup and tried to Set Restore point, but not successful.  Many times message reads "Unable to Restore (mentioned) date/timestamp.  Click on OK and normal workable screen appears for awhile but eventually Crashes for unknown reason. Sometimes Reboot results in ALTERED Screen Resolution, then forced to Reboot and choose "Safe Mode".

Occasionally even "Safe Mode" will crash Randomly.  Seemed like Mouse movement may have caused the Crash, but recently while simply reading information on screen (no Mouse Movement) - the system went down.

After Infection, Cleaned dust from Cards, Power Sysytem, Case Interior.  Have monitored Heat levels prior to Crash (no obvious indications). Have gone into StartUp and Unchecked numerous programs not needed (which might use up Ram).  4GB Ram had been very satisfactory with XP for several years prior to Virus Infection.

ps: Have used Checkdisk and determined that Primary HDD appears to be okay. Too much on Primary HDD would be lost, so hoping to avoid Reformatting.

Any comments, questions, advice would be warmly received.  Thanks for your attention.
