See this HP support page. Do a drive test to see if it passes. If it does pass do you have access to another Windows 7 computer where you can create a System Repair Disk?

It may take up to three atempts at startup repair to fix the problem. If you need data off the drive you can download AoemiPE builder on your other Windows 7 computer. This will let you transfer files to an external drive. Aoemi will let you create a bootable disk or USB flash drive.

Here is a video on the software.

Thanks for the update. May I ask how you got the computer to boot again? Did you use the System Repair Disk?

JohnC_21 Yes I used the system repair disc to boot the machine and then used a system image stored on their machine to reinstall windows 7 and then the latest updates. We did two new system images one on the machine and another to an external drive also their own system repair disc and a Aoemi PE disc.

Once again thank YOU for your directions in this matter and may others see a path out of their troubles in this post Jack.
