In its simplest form, Werewolf is played by two teams: the mafia and the innocents. At the start of the game every mafiosi is given the identities of his teammates, while the innocents at first know only the number of mafiosi in the game. Live games require a moderator who does not participate as a player.
There are two phases: "night" and "day." which the moderator will announce. At night certain players secretly perform special actions; during day players discuss and vote to "lynch," or eliminate, one player. These phases alternate with each other until all mafiosi have been eliminated or until the mafia outnumbers the innocents.
The Villager: An innocent with almost no powers, but can elect a leader that has three votes.
(leader for the Villagers. there can be two, but the vigilante has to take a side and kill one of them)
Town Leader: he does not count as a villager, and has three votes in lynching.
The Werewolf: A regular man who can kill a person and all who visit them every three nights.
The Detective: an innocent who may learn the team of one player every other night.
The Doctor: an innocent who may protect a player from killing roles every night.
The Barman: a mafioso who may cancel the effect of another role's ability every night.
The Hit man: A Mafioso who may kill a player every other night.
The Vigilante: an innocent who may kill a player every night. if they kill a town member, they die.
The Little Girl: Or a spy, if you prefer that instead. She knows who the Werewolf is, and can follow one person each night to see what they do and say. They will know that a little girl followed them at the end of the night.
There will be four mafioso, an infinite number of town members, a werewolf, and at least two detectives. Open slots below.
Then the Moderator starts a PM for the mafia, telling them who's who. The moderator then instructs all members of the mafia to acknowledge their accomplices. each pick a "victim" and indicate their target to the moderator through chat, then their actions end.
A similar process occurs for other roles with nightly actions. In the case of the detective, the moderator may indicate the target's innocence or guilt by using gestures such as nodding or head shaking.
Night may be accompanied by players tapping gently to mask sounds made by gesturing.
the moderator announces who "died" the previous night. The murdered player is revealed. Dead players may not attempt to influence the game.
Discussion ensues in the comments or in "whispers" by chatting to them through the chat box. At any point a player may accuse someone of being a mafioso and prompt others to vote to lynch him. If over half of the players do so, the accused person is eliminated, his role is revealed, and night begins. If not, Night happens after one full real day.
Because players have more freedom to deliberate, days tend to be longer than nights.
