Lol its not me that has the problem its a dude i know, i just recommended he scanned with HT and id post a log here.
Story is i use an Rcon program (logmeinrescue.com i think it is) to remotley scan his pc from mine and spybot finds a bit, ad-aware too but whatever he does he cannot get rid of the hijacker to sysprotectionpage.com

He says he cannot install windows defender dew to some error, he has norton internet security 2005 with a few months yet left on it. Only rights to change the AV settings though. I notice a few dodgey running processes but we have since gotten rid of them, there does seem to be one or two tho still that catch my eye.

Anyway after much head scratching and googling comming up to nothing i thought id come back to the place that helped me a lot a few years back with some nasty malware ;)

Below is his log, hope it is of some use to helping him >.< :

I have searched the forum for this and as he his kind of a pc newbie he says the removal procedure that i found here was a little too complicated for him. Also safe mode would mean he would have no firewall and if i was to remotley control his pc (if possible in safe mode) i dont want to be held responsible for another virus or whatnot.
Hope you are able to help me to help him
Any other info needed just ask.

Hi,

The forums are really busy, that explains why logs get behind. If you still need some help, please start with posting a new hijackthislog in this thread. Don't start with a new thread.
Then I'll take a look.

Also, before posting your log, Can you rename Hijackthis.exe to Analyse.exe
Then scan with Analyse.exe and post the log in your next reply (which will be a hijackthislog ofcourse)

Hello,

There was no
O20 - Winlogon Notify: vtsqq - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtsqq.dll
found this time :s

Yes I know.. that's why I said - if present, because normally Vundofix should deal with that one as well. And it looks like Vundofix indeed solved your problem here.

One small note though...
I notice from your log that you are running more than one different Anti-Virus programs with Auto-protect enabled, AVG and Norton
Rather than giving you extra protection, this can actually give problems because of incompatibility issues, can even cause BSODs and decrease the reliability of it seriously!

I would strongly advise you to only have one Anti-Virus with the Auto-Protect feature running at any one time!

If you decide to only keep one Anti-Virus installed,
you should uninstall the other through the Add or Remove Programs option in Control Panel.

Let me know in your next reply how things are running now.

As i said this isnt my computer, its a mates >.<
Its one im remotely controlliong it over the net.

I will inform him of this, i stated this as well but he wouldnt believe me...

Anyway im guessing that means he is clean and shoudlnt be hijacked when he next opens IE...I have to get in contact with him, i will shortly though.

I myself got an updated hijackthis so i decided to post a log of my own computer, is it ok if i post it here or should i open another thread?

im basically looking a checkup lol

Hi,

Only one orphaned leftover to fix in hijackthis:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {2F364306-AA45-47B5-9F9D-39A8B94E7EF7} - (no file)

One remark though - I note in your log that you have FlashGet the download manager -
Be aware that the trial copy bundles Cydoor adware, but when you register the Ads disappear. So, in case you didn't buy it, I recommend you uninstall it.

By the way - what were you trying to do here?:

O1 - Hosts: 1.27.0.0.1 www.alcohol-soft.com - save

Above entry is not properly set. First of all, I assume you want it to go to www.alcohol-soft.com? When you put 127.0.0.1 in front of it in your hostsfile, it will block the www.alcohol-soft.com site. I don't guess this is the intention here and luckily you made a typo in the 127.0.0.1 and used 1.27.0.0.1 instead.
If you want to set that entry properly, you should add the IP from www.alcohol-soft.com in front, which is: 195.137.236.101

So, the right entry in your hostsfile should be:

195.137.236.101 www.alcohol-soft.com

Actually flashget is now freeware, you can check their website if you wish ;)

Spybot: Search & Destroy i think picks up Cydoor and to my knowledge i have never found anything like that on my computer.

The alcohol thing i dont actaually know...but its a grey area so i will say no more >.<

I didnt do anytihng with the alcohol thing bu here is my latest log:

Log looks ok, but I guess you misunderstood me concerning flashget. Yes, when you are using the free version of Flashget, you get the cydoor adware with it.
Once you register and pay for it, the cydoor disappears. That's why I do not recomment the free version, unless you like having spyware/adware on your system.
Read here for better and clean alternatives:
