Hi to all,

Just a query,

Computer sits there, idle, desktop on screen, then off it goes 'doing something', maybe 2-3 mins, maybe 30 mins, sometimes an hour or more, HDD light on, fan at max, what is it doing?

Had a look at msconfig.exe, loads of stuff, some 'stopped' some 'running'. I do not want to stop a 'running' in case everything crashes.

Is there a program that will put on screen what it is doing, I have disabled all scheduled tasks that I know of.

Thanks for any help

Terry

Check Scheduled Tasks. Check to see if your AV is set to scan when the system is idle. Check to see if defrag is set to run at periodic times. Like that.
