I think that the green jack is only capable of stereo output.

I did a lot of reading just now on different websites and there should be some kind of output jack on the back of your PC, hooked up straight to the motherboard, that should provide your 5.1 audio. I just checked my owner's manual for my Asus motherboard and that is where mine is located. There should also be an optical output in back that does surround audio.

Could we get the model number for your laptop so we can look up the connection and port specifics?

Yes, that would definitely help. But according to what I have read the green jack is only for stereo. If he indicates which system he has we can figure out his surround sound jack.

As Rocky pointed out previously,  this laptop is not capable of 5.1 surround.  It uses stereo output only.

It looks like there is a rather inexpensive solution you can buy tho.
