i was almost done backing up my entire 700GB system to my new western digital mybook 4tb external, stepped into the bathroom for a few minutes, came back to the computer seemingly having had restarted itself asking me to choose a device to boot from. i want to boot from my usual windows 8.1 os on my little more than a year old desktop pc. any way to repair, if need be, or otherwise help it boot up like normal? thanks

Is the external drive still connected? If so, disconnect it and reboot.
