Malwarebytes Unpacked article

I saw someone recommending YAC (Yet Another Cleaner) some time ago... does he know he is using a poorly made copy of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?

And looks like Major Geeks http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/yac_(yet_another_cleaner).html

Took it down already.

Let's hope other downloading hosting sites do the same.

I was told to back off in this thread Alex back then when it happened as I clearly said that YAC wasn't trustworthy and people should stay away from it. Hopefully, the members here will now see YAC as the new "IObit" and start believing in what I said back then.

Since you brought it up, that that topic was closed by Admin due to hijacking it and arguing with another member.

No updates from Malwarebytes so far.

I see that CNET still have that crapware up, but then why downloading things from them anyway?

YAC is still available at softonic.com...another crapware site to avoid.

Was there any replies from YAC yet, like IObit did to Malwarebytes or not?

They're probably considering among themselves to admit it, deny it or bury it.

Another option is to just ignore it and not respond at all.

The coverage this time wasn't the same scale as the iOBit incident... so far I haven't seen any posts about it but here and the MBAM source.

I was considering bringing it up on Web of Trust forum, but they already had a red rating and comment votes are disabled for non-addon users... well.

As such it pays for YAC to just ignore the story and not respond at all.

Well not replying to this story is pretty much admitting that they did. Not like if they were replying to it they could say the opposite, the proof is there and you can't really argue against it. All they could say is if they had a reason to do that but even there, there's no good reason to steal the intellectual property of another program to enhance yours.

Just like with politicians, responding keeps the story alive. Not responding and it dies more quickly. The majority of people have short attention spans and quickly forget.

New update from the Malwarebytes folks: OPSWAT revoked their certification for YAC

Information is still at the end of the original post (Yet Another Cleaner, Yet Another Stealer).
