Hi trevorcork

Did the laptop originally run windows 7?

There are usually driver problems with such a move

If needed I can point you to some must read advice

You can downgrade it, but it is a royal pain.

If you have Windows 8/8.1 Pro you will have the rights to downgrade to Windows 7 without purchasing a product key.

If it is not the Pro version, you will need to have a legal, unused product key.

If you Google "How to downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7" you will find a great deal of information regarding this.  Everyone I've read points out that this is not a simple process.  I would advise you to read several of these articles before making up your mind to downgrade.

Windows Eight Forums has one of the better tutorials for doing the downgrade.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
