Hi i have an 2008 24" iMac running OS x 10.10 Yosemite, (with 4gb ram the max mac supports on this machine) I have installed Windows 7 onto this using Boot Camp Assistant, giving a dual boot machine windows or mac, the problem is when using windows the screen goes black, but he machine is still running, i can't get screen to come on again without turning it  off and on again, everything is working on the machine. there is no set time before this happens, or no particular program that causes this to happen. I know some people have problems with drivers when installing windows screen goes black, but mine is different as windows is working fine but every now and again the screen goes black.

please can any one help with this

Have you this issue at first time you running windows 7? Have you installed the bootcamp drivers?

Try to start in safe mode if

- you have the issue at fresh install and first time running, in safe mode uninstall the Grafphics drivers

- your system running before this happens fine, try a system restore.

No I did not have the problem the first time I installed Windows, the machine is working, have programs loaded Microsoft Office, Photoshop and Desktop Publishing programs all is working but as I stated the screen keeps going black, no particular program or time for this to happen.

After the first install the graphics card driver had to be updated as I could not change the screen setting, I updated the driver and this is now sorted, I had a similar problem with the sound card but driver update sorted that also
