Hello, well this i my first problem post on here. I recently had to dump everything on my computer to get rid of Surfsidekick adware that ruined it. Well I started from scratch with reinstalling windows XP and everything. I put in the restore disk that came with my Dell Dimension 2400 cpu and got what ever programs i thought were nessesary. Could have missed some. I have no idea whats needed. After all that I couldnt connect to the internet with my Ethernet Cable. My wife plugged in the USB to our cable modem and thank god that worked cause i would not be typing this to you right now. Under my Device Manager under other devices there are yellow question marks with small exclamation points on; Ethernet Controller, PCI Modem, and USB Digital Still Camera. Im thinking i need a Ethernet Driver but i dont know which one from the Dell site to download or if that is even the problem. Someone please help.

You might be able to get some help from your SIP on this one.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Hello,

Your PC most likely came with 3-5 discs, depending on what extras you got. To reinstall the needed drivers, you will need to put in the disk other than the one with the operating system on it, titled something like Drivers, Utilities, or something to that nature.

The disks I have seen from dell usually come with many more drivers than you actually have on your system, that way they can ship them with the coresponding models. You can either access the administrave tools found in the All Programs menu, or Control Panel, and find the type of Ethernet device you have, then install the driver that matches it off of the disk. Or you can go to Dell.com, and input your service # which will tell you all the information about your PC as they shipped it.

Hope this helps,

nos

Worst case use, Everest Home 1.51 or Belarc Diagnostic Tool to discover what exact NIC you have. I prefer Everest 1.51
