About TrayMenu.exe

Have you downloaded any new software lately? It could have been bundled with something else you installed. Check Programs and Features in Control Panel...click the Installed on tab to list installed software by date.

What information do you get when clicking on the icon...left click, right click?

I remember that when this problem appeared 3 days ago, I somehow saw in the Control Panel -> Programs and Features that there was something with name "Search Protection". I read in internet that this should be removed and I uninstalled it. It was brand new then.

Now I see there is some "Browser Extension" by Spigot Inc. but it is installed about a month ago. I wonder if there is a connection between them and this TrayMenu.exe

Sorry for delaying the answer.

When left click or right click on the first image (TrayMenu.exe) nothing happens.

When right click on the green "H" icon this menu opens:

Untitled-4_zpsohq5ym7x.jpg

for now, I only have clicked on Exit and it closes.

If you don't want a specific program (or scheduled task) to run at startup you can either disable it in MSConfig or by using a third-party utility. To disable an entry just uncheck it.

Please download AutoRuns and save it to your Desktop.

  • Create a new folder on your hard drive called AutoRuns (C:\AutoRuns) and extract (unzip) the file there.
  • Open the folder and double-click on autoruns.exe to launch it.
Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
  • Please be patient as it scans and populates the entries.
  • When finished scanning, it will say Ready at the bottom and list all entries under the Everything tab.
  • In the top menu, click File > Find... and type TrayMenu.exe, then click Find Next.
  • Alternatively, you can scroll through the list and look for any entry related to TrayMenu.exe.
  • If found, right-click on the entry and choose disable.
  • Exit Autoruns and reboot your computer when done.

If that resolves the problem, you can repeat the steps but this time choose delete to remove the entry entirely.

-- Note: AutoRuns is a tool for advanced users since it does not have the ability to recognize unsafe or dangerous items...it only displays what it finds. Do not uncheck or delete anything else.
