Avast Tech Support has got me suspicious

:step1: I did just have a problem getting my new license to Avast Secureline (VPN) to work.  I called Avast free tech support and "marvin" used remote access to find windows errors and driver faults. He did something very similiar to this but wtih more command prompts  http://krebsonsecurity.com/2012/03/aghast-at-avasts-iyogi-support.  So I just wanted to have someone look over my computer for performance and security measures.  I did get my Secureline license to work after downloading java ( i guess i hadnt before) and setting windows defender off ( oops)
