I'm not quite certain where to post this question, but since the computers involved are both Windows 7 machines, I took a wild guess and decided to put it here. Please move it if I'm wrong...
I am wondering if it's possible to connect two computers so that they operate as one machine. I've done some searching, but all of the answers I've found deal with file and device sharing, which is not what I'm wondering - I know how to set up a simple home network for that purpose. I want to know if it's possible to connect the two machines so that they operate essentially as one - combining the processor power, etc.
In theory, I think it should be possible. I remember reading once that a lab utilized something like 10 PS3s, wired together, to create a sort of super computer. I'm just curious if this is possible with two desktop PCs, and if it is, how complicated is it, and is there specialized hardware that would be needed?
