I have an ECS nforce3-a mobo that has the black cpu fan mount, but it doesn't have the screws or the backplate. I got some long bolts and large rubber washers and it holds it on nice and snug, but I'm wondering if this might put too much stress on the mobo and break it when I'm lugging it to a lan party or something. It does keep in contact with the cpu and Its cool (<40deg) and it has been working so far, but is this safe? Thanks.

The stand offs that support the board should keep the board from flexing which is about the only way there would be a problem after it's installed, pc board in gerneral are pretty sturdy. Sounds like you made a good mod.
