This has happened twice so far. First time I had to do system restore. Today another update was performed and again a very large screen.

What can be done to stop this?

Without knowing what starts it, I wouldn't want to guess how to stop it.

Are your graphics drivers current? What was the update that caused the problem?

Are there any other 'unusual' things happening that might help in determining the problem?

You need to answer Dick E's question.

Please post the Manufacturer and model of this computer.

Please download and install Speccy to provide us with information about your computer.  Clicking on this link will automatically initiate the download.

When Speccy opens you will see a screen similar to the one below.

speccy9_zps2d9cdedc.png

Click on File which is outlined in red in the screen above, and then click on Publish Snapshot.

The following screen will appear, click on Yes.

The following screen will appear, click on Copy to Clipboard.

In your next post right click inside the Reply to Topic box, then click on Paste.  This will load a link to the Speccy log.

==========

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:

• List last 10 Event Viewer log
• List Installed Programs
• List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
• List Minidump Files

Click on Go to start the scan.  Once it is finished highlight the text, copy it and paste it in your next post.

==========

Try booting into Safe Mode.  Safe Mode uses a different graphics driver, it uses a native Windows driver.  Because of this, if there is a problem with the normal graphics driver this should not occur in Safe Mode.

hp pavilion .

Ok... we now know it is a HP Pavilion, but what is the model of this Pavilion?

Please provide me with the requested information in my last post, The Speccy and MiniToolBox.

Do not post the MiniToolBox results in quotes or code, and do not post this via a host website.  I will not download anything to my computer unless I know exactly what it contains.

Just FYI Boat - sometimes during a windows update- an updated driver is installed for the video drivers.  This can sometimes cause the display to revert back to the lowest setting.  Normally you simply need to change the resolution to match your preference depending on your monitor's screen size and graphics card capability.

Please read my instructions carefully and do only what is requested.  By not checking the requested boxes in the MiniToolBox you have provided information which isn't needed.

If you followed the instructions for Speccy you would have resulted in post a hyperlink which would open the Speccy Snapshot.
