My computer is infected with spyware and trojans. I have a firewall (2wire, on the DSL portal), Norton System Works 2003 (upgraded) and Ad-Aware 6.0, and I wrongly assumed that I had my bases covered. I had to uninstall and reinstall Norton two days ago, and now my upgrade is no longer on my computer. I've run online virus checks from a website recommended to someone else by one of your technicians, and it found a large number of .dll and .exe files that could not be disinfected. (I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the antivirus website.)

It seems to me that the easiest solution might be to reformat my hard drive and reinstall all of my software. However, I still have vulnerability somewhere. What more do I need to do to protect my computer? I think I should also mention that I have never been able to get the 2wire software to work, but the internet provider technicians say that's not important so long as I'm able to connect to the internet using the 2wire portal. The 2wire website says that the firewall is working.

I don't think that you should reformat your computer due to malware unless it has rendered the system useless.

Post this log at the Hijack this board, I'm sure that they can help you
