Hi, I'm not sure if I am in the right place, but here goes. I recently got some sort of virus. When I try to run AdAware, I get a message that NT Authority is shutting down the computer. When I restart, Spybot pops up and tells me that some program is trying to change the settings on my home page, google page, Logitech keyboard, msmsgr, etc. I ran NoAdware and did find a virus, but did not fix my problem. I ran AdAware and Mcafee and XoftSpy in safe mode, but did not find anything significant. I had to reinstall my Java platform (I think the registry was changed or the program was disabled). I have ran Hijack this and can post a copy of it if needed. Has anybody else had this problem, or know what i need to do? I really don't know a lot about computers, and don't know where to go now. Thank you, Mary

Since this posting, I have installed and ran fixwareout SW and have the below report:

Fixwareout ver 1.003

Hi,
Just wanted to let you know, I found the problem. Just in case anyone else is having similar problems, this was my solution. I ran msconfig and found 2 start up programs and 4 other files that were named with squares and symbols. I checked those boxes to not run those programs. Did a restart, then ran hijackthis to restore the autoruns. Unfortunately, I still don't know what the name of the virus/worm/baddie it was.
Thanks,
Mary
