WD My Passport Ultra I/O Error

My computer is not showing my WD My Passport ultra portal drive.  When I go to Disk Management, I get the message "You must initialize a disk before Logical Disk Manager can access it.  I select the MBR option and the message "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.  I see Disk 4 Unknown Not Initialized.  Also, there are no errors in Device Manager.


Are there any options for me to access the drive?

Is there and damage the connector? Look closely into the USB 3.0 ends for lint, corrosion or broke/bent pins.

Has this been dropped recently?

One can tear apart the enclosure to access the drive within: It is a basic 2.5 inch drive which fits into any laptop or gaming device. After removal on can connect the drive to a SATA interface for more reliable troubleshooting.
