I have plenty of space on the disk, but keep getting a message that I am running out of space on "factory system restore". I don't find a way to increase the space alloted for automatic backups.

I deleted all the temp files.

In the backup file there are 5 files, "Windows backup.*.etl and 5 SystemImage.*.etl.

5 different Restore UI. files

2 recovery disk files

Can I delete some of those?

I downloaded and ran Windows update cleanup but I don't know if it worked.

make backup of computer before deleting restore points

go to properties run disk clean up  clean up system files

more options system restore and shadow copies clean up

to delete all restore points

system  system protection  configure  turn off restore points turn back on and create new restore point

to change size of disk space usage  configure in system protection

Isn't everything automatically backed up already?

Can I delete all but the most recent restore points?

The rest is rather cryptic. I don't know what to do with it. I am not a techie.

The disk space usage for "factory system image repair image was set on zero, so I moved it to 8%.

Some body said he was switching the conversation to another place. Sorry.
Anyway that is what I was trying to do but evidently the disk was too far gone and now it's dead so this is all for nothing.
Have to hope the guy I bought the computer from will reinstall the OS for me
