Hello,

 

I have a persistent BSOD that i get while using Kodi 14.1. I am hoping someone could help me out? I received the box from a friend in a trade (knowing it had some problems). It seems to becoming more and more, but only while using Kodi (XBMC). I have attached the last dump file if that helps. I admit that computers are not my thing, but I am an excellent googler... Sorry

Please post the dump files in your topic.  I will not download anything to my computer unless I know exactly what it contains.

 

Please download and install Speccy to provide us with information about your computer.  When  FileHippo opens, click on Download latest version in the upper right pane.
 
When Speccy opens you will see a screen similar to the one below.

 post right click inside the Reply to Topic box, then click on Paste.  This will load a link to the Speccy log.
Click on File which is outlined in red in the screen above, and then click on Publish Snapshot.
 
The following screen will appear, click on Yes.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:

Click on Go to start the scan.  Once it is finished highlight the text, copy it and paste it in your next post.

Correct..I would highly consider checking your systems specs.  I deal with a lot of NUC's here at work.  Their performance for business based work is flawless, but personal/home usage isn't so great.  I know there is a pretty serious bug that the version 14.1 is having.

There is no personal information contained in the Speccy Snapshot.  But it does have information which will help understand what is happening with this computer.  This is a tool which is used regularly here at Bleeping Computer.  If it were not a trusted program it would not be used here.

 

It has been brought to my attention that the FileHippo download site is now downloading third party software along with the Speccy download.  For this reason I'm requesting that it be downloaded directly from Piriform.

I am having the same problem now that I upgraded to Kodi 14.1.  I would really appreciate it if you could explain what was wrong and how you fixed it.  I am not finding any useful information anywhere :(

You need to start your own topic.  Although your problem may look like theirs, this is usually not the case.  But more importantly, you can not expect to have your problem and the problem which was originally posted to be addressed in this topic.  It would not fair to you or pytyper483 to try to resolve both of your problems at the same time, this would result in confusion.

 

Please post your own topic.  Fully describe the problem and what you have tried to resolve it.  It would help to know the make and model of the computer.

    The errors and situation are a match (IRQL_GT_ZERO_AT_SYSTEM_SERVICE, stop 04a, happens when using Kodi).  Although I understand (some of) your reasoning for starting a new topic, I believed that it would assist both myself, pytyper483, and others who are still looking for answers to consolidate the information.  Currently the information is sparse and scattered throughout various forums, blogs, and posts.  This issue only effects a minority of Kodi users, so sharing data is extremely helpful to those of us scraping blindly in the dark.

 

    I have found information that this is a known issue in Kodi 14.x that has to do with it conflicting with certain hardware configurations.  I also have read that they are working on a fix for this in Kodi 15.0. 

 

  No reliable work arounds are available in 14.x.  Although some people have reported success uninstalling all additional plugins and stoping the web server (for remote control) service.  I was curious to know how pytyper483 had solved their issue so I could attempt that solution as another possible work around.  As trying to obtain more information on the issue is completely unfair to pytyper483, I have decided to just revert to XBMC (13.2) and give up on trying to find a concrete answer.

I figured out what was causing the bsod in kodi and fixed it. I appreciate your help

I know it was related to using Aeon Nox skin and a certain add-on. I'll need to look and see if I can remember which add-on it was. I figured it out by looking at the logs from kodi.
