My daughters pc... I have Trendmicro Internet securty and keep it upgraded, and it runs ever night. I have run Spybot S&D and it only finds something called Rotue uninstall, each time. I have gone through my programs in add remove and have uninstalled a bunch of stuff. I spent three days cleaning my daughters pc only to find out the troublke returned after she went to college.

We have a very obnoxious program that constanly opens and url like...
//newads1.com/cmapp/zx-adredirect.php?target=http%3A
and //www.vegaspalm.com

We ran hijack this and I found this url and chekc it and said fix this, and it removed it from the list but the hijacking is still happening

Here is my Hijack log

Hello,

It's better to print out the next instructions or save it in notepad, because you also have to work in safe mode without networking support, so this page wouldn't be available then.
It is also important you don't miss a step and perform everything in the right order!!

Please download, install, and update Ewido anti-spyware
  • Load Ewido and then click the Update tab at the top. Under Manual Update click Start update.
  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
  • Close ewido. Do not run it yet.
* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

  • Press OK to remove them.
  • Still in Safe Mode, load Ewido and click on the Scanner tab at the top. Click the "Settings" tab and then change the recommended action to Quarantine and click Automatically generate report after every scan. Click back to the "Scan" tab and then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run, so be prepared.
  • Ewido will list any infections found on the left hand side. When the scan has finished, it will automatically set the recommended action. Click the Apply all actions button. Ewido will display "All actions have been applied" on the right hand side.
  • Click on "Save Report", then "Save Report As". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again (like on the Desktop).
  • Close Ewido.
* Reboot your system back to normal mode.

* Perform an onlinescan with panda: (please use this scanner instead of any other scanner!)
Panda Online
- Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
- A new window will open...click the Check Now button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
- When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
- When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
Post the contents of the Panda scan report in your next reply,
together with the contents of ewido-log present on your desktop and a new HiJackThis log.

I followed all your instructions to the letter. up to the Ewido scan. When I did an Ewido scan, it did not save a log file. I looked everywhere and wound up deleted everything in quarantine. I hope that wasn't the wrong thing to do.

Hello,

Check next entry in hijackthis:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

Then delete next files and folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Desktop\regular_plugin.exe
C:\Program Files\MediaPipe <== folder
C:\ventfe1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\gimmygames.dat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\BMG3b.exe

  • Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )
It should have next icon next to it: Posted Image
    Select it and click Remove.
  • Then Download and install the newest version from here:http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Let me know in your next reply how things are running now.

Ok that does it for her pc. It looks and acts clean now.

During the course of this, I also noticed my pc is acting sluggish, and slow lately. For two days Trnd Micro gives me a warning alert that and network threat exists, called ADW_NETPALS.D is attempting to access my computer and was blocked mutliple times. I do a search files and folders and the file can't be found. Spybot S&D found nothing, Trendmicro simply said it blocked action.

Hello,

Trnd Micro gives me a warning alert that and network threat exists, called ADW_NETPALS.D is attempting to access my computer and was blocked mutliple times

Doesn't trendmicro show more info on this? Because it doen't give the real name of this file, but the name for how this file is recognised.

By the way, above log is from a different account...

Aah, nothing to worry about here. That is actually a leftover, present in your system restore points.
To get rid of it, is please disable your systemrestore.(note: this will delete all your system restore points and malware that were present in it).
How to disable system restore in XP
Reboot.. and after rebooting, enable it again, so a new systemrestorepoint will be made. A clean one now!

Let me know if that solved it. It should :flowers:
