I want to record from a phonograph to my computer. I have a preamp that converts analog to digital. It has rca jacks and I need some idea of the type of sound card I need. My current sound card does not have an RCA input. Thanks in advance.

I have a preamp that converts analog to digital.

Digital??? Does the preamp have a normal analog "line out"? Then if your current sound card has a stereo "line in" all you need is a $5.00 adapter from two RCA jacks to a 1/8 (3.5 mm) stereo plug.

You run the "line out" from the preamp to the "line in" on the PC.

I just found something that may help (a picture is worth a thousand words):

Record Music from a Vinyl Record to Your Computer
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...StepByStep.aspx

Note: I have never used the "Plus! Analog Recorder" software in the article.
