windows 7 laptop,

originally the computer would startup to the black screen with white lettering "launch system repair" or "start windows normally".....no matter what i selected here the result would get me a plain black screen and nothing more,

i pushed f12 during booting to display the boot menu options and tried booting from UBCD and Hirens, they would load about halfway then i would get the blue screen with white lettering blah blah, remove viruses etc etc,

i pushed f8 during startup which displayed the normal startup options but none of them do much, will not start in safe mode,

now i have (regrettably) gone into bios and set all the settings back to default,

when i start the computer now all i get is "no bootable device - please restart system"

i can get into bios but cant see any settings that would help,

NOW when i push f12 to select an item from the boot menu, the boot menu appears but there are NO ITEMS IN THE LIST!....not even the hard drive!

i can not boot from a cd or usb

also, the f8 at startup does not work now,

next i took the hard drive out of the laptop and hooked it up to another computer,

the hard drive has a capacity of 320g but when i go to properties it displays 60g free out of 99g ?

also when i explore the hard drive to look at the contents the are NO FILES OR FOLDERS!....nothing

i am lost here
