I recently finished cleaning my laptop of malware with help of someone in the Malware/etc forum, and shortly afterwards while trying to use Function + left and right arrow keys to change the volume of my laptop, I noticed that the volume only goes up or down by 2 at a time when the button combination is used, rather than beforehand when it used to go up or down by 10 at a time.

How can I fix this problem?

(If I'm in the wrong forum, please direct me to one where I might ask this question)

I would try running the chkdsk /r command from the command prompt.

Chkdsk From Command Prompt, Win 7 - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/496613/contextmenu-is-causing-explorerexe-to-crash/?p=3067880
