Hey guys, just verifying compatibility for a friend's build before he pulls the trigger. Looking for second opinions as well.

CPU  FX 6300

GPU Sapphire 290

RAM Vengeance 8GB

CHASIS Switch 210

SSD 850 Pro

Budget ~$900

I'm concerned that the 290 is overkill for his needs...BF4, Skyrim, high settings/max FPS. What do you guys think

The R9 290 is a bit overkill.  The 990FX is also not necessary unless you are planning on using multiple GPU's, a 970 chipset would be sufficient for single GPU systems.  Given the unique design of the FX processors, an FX-8300 series CPU may offer a better long-term solution.  Don't forget to get an operating system.  This is a good build nonetheless.
