I just finished putting together a new computer from scratch and just installed Windows 7 on it and I can't get the internet working on it.  I remember having a similar problem on windows XP where they didn't include network drivers with the installation, is this a similar situation?  Do I need to download network drivers on a separate computer like I did on XP?

Yes, you will need to download network drivers or install them from the CD that came with the motherboard.

Do you know what the manufacturer and model of the motherboard are?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
