Stuck at Verifying DMI Pool Data.....

My (custom built) computer, which I bought from a friend, has had issues with crashing during video games for the last couple weeks and has always randomly had "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" errors. I ran a Who Crashed analysis and it stated that all the crashes were due to nvidia something-or-other, so I updated the driver last night. It seemed to be fixed for awhile but eventually crashed again. I thought it might be due to overheating so I took the side panel off and cleaned all vents and fans (which were very dirty). I noticed that one of the hard drives were not plugged in, I have over 24k photos and a ton of videos so I thought it may help performance with the extra hard drive... Evidently this was a mistake because now my computer will not boot up... It gets hung up at the Verifying DMI Pool Data and I have no idea how to fix it. I unplugged the hard drive, thinking that was the problem, and restarted the computer but it still hangs up... I've checked YouTube and googled the issue but most of what I read is over my head, I'm not very tech savvy. I'd really appreciate some help with at least getting Windows to boot up! Please use layman's terms and step-by-step instructions ☺ Thanks!

Can you get in to safe mode?

To get in to safe mode: Start up the computer and immediately begin tapping the F8 key till you get to the Advanced Startup menu.

Choose safe mode

 

From safe mode I'd backup my important files to an external hard drive or burn them to DVDs

 

I'd run chkdsk /r in a command box.

when that is completed, restart the computer.

 

If you cannot get to Safe Mode you might have the option, also on the Advanced Startup Menu to choose Repair your computer.

HairCut, thanks for your response. The only commands that are working are the "boot menu (F12), CMOS Setup Utility (DEL), and (END) for Q-Flash Utility v2.23" I was unable to access the Advanced Startup Menu. Express Recovery (F9) nor (F8) do anything.

I was going to try booting with Last Known Good Configuration, since this wasn't an issue yesterday. But F8 is not working...

Try pressing and holding the space bar just after the BIOS screen.

There's an option to press F8 from there .. so I read :)

You can use a Windows DVD from where you can access the System Recovery options:

Download a Windows 7 ISO from here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/download-windows-7-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit-direct-download-links/

Burn the correct image to DVD.

Don't install Windows 7 or you will lose your files.

DMI Pool Data problems is related to the BIOS.

 

When a computer is powered on, it makes a quick inventory of all devices available to BIOS and creates a table called the desktop management interface (DMI) pool. The DMI table is used by the operating system to determine which devices are available, mostly so the OS doesn't have to perform this work by itself, but also so that the data reported is produced consistently.

 

 

First, go to CMOS settings and make sure the HDD with the OS is the first in Boot Priority. That may have changed somehow. After changing that and saving settigns see if the computer boots.

 

If that does not work:

 

Go to CMOS settings and set it back to default. If that does not work clear the BIOS either using the jumper on the motherboard or removing the CMOS battery. When removing the CMOS battery, remove any power and ground yourself on bare metal of the case. After removing the battery, hold the power button down for 30 seconds. Replace the battery and if the computer boots you may have to set the CMOS settings back to defauilt. Some motherboards have a button you can push to clear the CMOS settings.

 

Some CMOS settings have a Clear DMI pool so look for that also. If you see this then make sure it is enabled, save settings and then reboot.

I was able to get my computer to start Windows again, thank you guys for helping! It still crashes during gaming though...Do I need a new graphics card? It is not overheating, already ruled that out.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:

From the log it looks like you have both Mcafee and Bitdender antivirus. You need to uninstall one or the other. Did you once have Bitdefender on the comptuer?

 

How long have you been getting these crashes?

Yes, I had bitdefender at least a year ago. I thought I uninstalled it when I got Mcafee, but I'll check that right now. The crashes began this January of 2015 and consistently happen on two different games, one older (Mass Effect 2) and one newer (Mass Effect 3). I've only played those two games since the crashes started happening.
