I'm retired from the US Army (1988) and fully retired since December 2005.

I have some computer skills, it depends on what friends I'm around. Sometimes I'm a geek times I'm just a PITA.

I found this forum by posting an "off topic" question on a wood workers forum.

My current question is about a week or so ago a "Cyber Link" icon appeared on my desktop and when I try to watch a DVD it takes me to the CL page to register and join. Since I have no idea where this came from and what it's all about I don't need more stuff on my computer.

Can I just uninstall all of the CL files without affecting anything else?

BTW. I apologize ahead of time, my assistance to anyone else will probably be minimal due to my ignorance.

Once CyberLink has been uninstalled, Windows will default to the normal video player. It's fine to remove.

First of all - welcome to BC !

This is just for clarification of the method of uninstalling Cyber link. Do it through 'Control panel - Programs and features - Uninstall'. This will uninstall it properly. To find 'Contol panel' on Win 8 tap or click in the top right corner of your screen to reveal the 'charms', then type ' control ' (without the ' ') in the search box.

I am going to be away until about the 22nd October. Time on-line will be reduced and my internet access may be limited. PMs may not be replied to as quickly as normal !
