I'm making a website for the first time and I'm trying to use PHP-Nuke. However, my domain host's (vDeck) web builder will not let me make my php page my main page (as far as I know I'm a noob). So here's my questions:

1) If anyone is familiar with vDeck's web builder, how do I make my php page my main page

2) What can I put in the html code that would make my homepage automatically redirect to my php page?

Try adding :

DirectoryIndex index.php

to your .htaccess file.
