Hello,

I've visited this site many times when in need for advice and it has been very helpful over the years. However, this is my first post so before I continue, thank you for the wonderful service and hello to all.

I run a business that provides tools for online betting/trading. We use a tool provided by one betting agency that provides us with a way to link our software with the users accounts. This tool is called Netbet Pro and is written in .Net.

I believe that the issue may have something to do with the Runtime Libraries and/or .Net Framework as we had the same problem years ago on some XP machines and Vista machines. The problem back then was resolved by installing both and viola, the software would work.

The software works fine on Windows 8 and all other Windows os right back to 98 but it does not work as expected on Windows 8.1. Instead of seeing the application (really just a viewer that connects to an online account and shows online info) complete with account login, we see a white screen with no buttons, logos, general info or login area. Installing runtime libraries and .net framework has not resolved the issue nor has running in compatibility mode.

What could the significant diffrerence be between 8 and 8.1 that could cause this problem? If some is happy to help and needs to see it first hand, I can provide a link to download the application in question.

The vendor will be phasing out the app at the end of the year and they are not interested in finding a fix or work around. I am not due to upgrade my own software that relies on it until June so some how being able to use it on 8.1 for now would be great.

Many thanks!

Kevin

Hello Bettortrader

What could the significant diffrerence be between 8 and 8.1 that could cause this problem?

This simple diagnostic tool was always used up to 8.1, where it will not now run, on 8.1. DDS Tool.
Several other known programs work on Windows 8 but  not on 8.1 - I am not able to give the full details why, but it is well known, and most likely not your computers.

Not much else I can add, but others may have extras to add as why this is, but it just is that 8.1 is a "remodeled" version, internally .....
