Multiple Instances Of Svchost.exe

Using Process Explorer I see that there are multiple instances of svchost.exe running simultaneously on my computer. Should this be the case? All instances have different PID numbers. Not sure what PID is within this program.

Yes. It is a generic process used by Windows for a variety of aps and seeing three, four or even five is not unusual.
