I'm using Windows 8.0 64-bit, and just started having a very strange issue that I've never seen before. A Google Chrome shortcut that I've pinned to the start menu keeps disappearing on its own. I pin it to start normally, and it works fine. Then a few minutes later I open up the start menu, and the it's gone. I should stress that this only happens to the Google Chrome shortcut. None of the dozens of other items that I have pinned to start have ever disappeared. If I go to the actual directory where the start menu shortcuts are stored (C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs)I still see the Chrome shortcut there. It just doesn't show up on the menu. Am I missing something obvious here? What would cause this?

It could sound like a problem with some defective .dll's in google chromes browser files.

Have you tried re-installing chrome?
