Hello abeattie3:

I have not examined each and every CLSID in the registry keys, but the few I did belong to toolbars/PUP/PUMs that almost all users strive to mitigate anyway.

Please be prepared to have this thread moved to a more appropriate sub-forum here by one of the moderators as it is best to go through the professionally guided proper sequence of events when ridding a computer of its malware. The thread move, if made, will be very easy to locate.

In the meantime you can give very careful consideration to upgrading/updating this computer's defences and user browsing habits.

HTH :)

Thanks so much for the info.  I saw the same thing but as I always say I may not kn ow everything about computers but I know enough....  Enough to crash a hard drive and lose all her files.  That is why I leave it to you all here that are infinitelly wiser.

Hello abeattie3:

The actions I believe you are proposing may very well be premature as well as excessive. If nothing else poses a much more serious threat, routine remediation guidance, in the proper sequence, may very well result in a perfectly safe and serviceable system.

However, that would be the owner's and your call.

HTH :)

Hello -

Please open AdwCleaner and hit Clean now.

As with 1PW, I have not diagnosed each and every line, but there are enough items shown that mean they should be removed.

Following that, Please download RKill by Grinler to your desktop

  • If you have an old version, please delete it first
  • Right click on the new Red icon and select Run as Administrator
  • A black DOS box will appear for a short time and then disappear.
  • This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
  • At most the tool will usually run for about 2 minutes
  • Please Copy and Paste the small log back here.

If you already have a current version installed, update it first....Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

  • Follow the simple directions to install the program to desktop - If you already have a current version installed, Please update it first.
  • Right click and choose "Run as administrator" to open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and from the Dashboard please Check for Updates by clicking the Update Now... link
  • Open up Malwarebytes > Settings > Detection and Protection > Enable Scan for rootkit and Under Non Malware Protection set both PUP and PUM to Treat detections as malware.
  • Click on the SCAN button and run a Threat Scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware by clicking the Scan Now>> button.
  • If you find malware and tick it to remove it, you may be asked to re-boot the computer to finish cleaning.
  • Once completed please click on the History > Application Logs and find your scan log and open it and then click on the "copy to clipboard" button and post back the results on your next reply.

Regards -

Hello -

The below listed items are often the cause of many daily problems, and based on that alone, I would remove all of these >>

Conduit
iLivid
SearchProtect
Windows iLivid Toolbar
Babylon
PackageAware
PriceGong
searchquband
Searchqutoolbar
Advanced System Protector
Systweak
SmartBar

Beyond using the Clean section of AdwCleaner (what it is designed for) you are not helping the person who owns this computer ......

Please do that and follow the other given advice

Thank You -

Thanks for all the responses everyone. Noknojon I was helping my roommate literally do the basic maintenance and i noticed she had a plethora of junk so I was trying to use a reputable program but that is the extent of my "help". Trust me I spent 6 years working for NASA and i learned the hard way what happens when u think ur smarter then you are. I will make sure to follow clean the adwcleaner suggestions and the follow what u said. I'll post the logs when I can probably tomorrow or sunday.

Dont.Steal.Our.Software.A - This item should show that there is "older" IObit software that was scammed from Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

If you do not know the history, it was a "plant" by Malwarebytes company to prove that IObit was stealing program information from them, and calling it their own.

As a quick test, I know it may be hard for you to get the computer at certain times, but I would like you to run these 2 programs and post back the logs ...

Download Screen317 Security Check from Here or Here and save it to your Desktop.

  • Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
  • Follow the onscreen instructions inside the black box. (please be patient as it may take some time to gather information)
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt
  • Please Copy/Paste the contents of that document.

Note 1:: If any security program requests permission to access the Internet, allow it to
Note 2. If you receive UNSUPPORTED OPERATING SYSTEM! ABORTED! message, (or similar) restart computer and Security Check should run

Then -

Please download MiniToolBox  to desktop to run it.
 Checkmark the following boxes:

  • List content of Hosts
  • Flush DNS
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size

Click Go and Copy / Paste the result. (result.txt)

Thank You .....
