Downloaded, installed, Driver Manager onto a laptop computer having Windows Vista.  This program starts-up automatically when Windows starts or restarts.  Driver Manager is not shown in the list of Startup Program  (as found through msconfig.exe).    Is this Driver Manager program suspicious?

Have you on your system, or previously installed Norton?

Quick scan done using current version of Norton 360 found nothing.

The computer shows no signs of any trouble.

The Driver Manager program is made by PC Drivers Headquarters, Inc.  Their website shows no clear information about the program.  The installed program contains no options or settings for changing the auto-start upon Windows startup.

As a rule driver updater software is crapware. Why?....   because unless your devices are not functioning correctly the only thing you can do by updating drivers is break functionality. (by fixing stuff that isn't broken) And if you are experiencing a problem you should download the driver directly from the manufacturer, not from a 3rd party.

The company is "legit",(not a malware vendor per se) and has partnered with Norton before. Though the application is notoriously hard to remove and the trust rating fairly low.

I would suggest using system restore to go back before you installed the application.

If you need help finding drivers, or have a device issue there are plenty of friendly people here willing to help. :thumbup2:

Some programs do not show up in a startup list. :)

You would rather find IObit Driver Updater more looking approriate?

Edit:

Get a CCleaner.

I uninstalled Driver Manager through control panel in Windows  "Programs" listing  (as in the old, Add/Remove).  No problems experienced during nor after.  (Unsure about the minor mouse problem yet).

Further Note:  I found that when I installed Driver Manager a few days ago, the Programs list in control panel also showed one other installed program from PC DRIVERS HEADQUARTERS INC, and I uninstalled that one too.
