So lately I've been having issues with my computer such as freezing a lot, and lots of disc, atapi, cdrom errors in event viewer. I scanned the hard drive multiple times with data lifeguard(western digital) and it never found anything wrong. This has been going on for a while, like maybe a year, but changing the sata cable, or the sata port seemed to work for a while. However, lately it's gotten worse, and nothing seemed to work like before. I'm thinking maybe it's the motherboard, but I have a second hard drive with windows on it, and it seems to be working fine, typing this on that install.
So before I gave up and bought a new motherboard, I decided to try a Windows repair as that version had been on there for probably 2-3 years without reformatting and reinstalling. So I did the repair, and it restarts and gets to the Windows logo screen, and then it BSOD's.
The error I'm getting is "Page fault in nonpaged area" and the code is 0x00000050, 0xfffff80001600000, 0x000000000000000, 0xfffffadf8d2bb779, 0x0000000000000000.
I can get it to boot to safe mode, but once it gets to when it would load the desktop, it says "Windows setup cannot run in safe mode. Windows will reset now".
A couple things to point out. At first, I was getting errors for missing ntoskrnl.exe when trying to boot, so I used the recovery console to rebuild the installation, and chkdsk /r, which seemed to fix that problem. Also, when both of my hard drives are plugged in, I don't get the boot select option for both of my Windows installs, it just automatically loads my 2nd Windows install, but if I unplug my 2nd hard drive, then I get the boot selection screen, but it still gives me the BSOD mentioned above, when loading my 1st install.
For the record, I am using Windows Xp 64bit, and my build is as follows...
AMD Phenom II x6 1100T
MSI R5770 Hawk GPU
2x4gb G.SKill Ripjaws X DDR3-1600
Any other information needed, please ask, and any help is appreciated.
