windows update not working

windows update is not working.  when starting computer it says preparing to configure windows updates then after 5 mins goes to the login screen this happens after every boot up.

 

Note.

the computer had a lot of adware and trojans on it which i got rid of then with the usb stick provided by manufacturer i reformatted and reinstalled windows 8.  now im still having problems any help would be much appreciated.

ive tried it a few times.  the report says windows update database has a problem and also windows update components has problems which it say it fixed but hasn't. i get this report everytime i use the trobleshooter.
