Good morning all!

I do a lot of virus removals for customers as one of the services I perform.

RKill is a foundational part of my toolbox as I perform a cleanup.

Recently I have run this on a couple of Windows 8.1 machines and it seems to be finding "Missing Services". I've never seen this before on anything other than these Windows 8.1 machines.

I'm wondering if this is a false report and perhaps RKill is not yet quite perfected for Windows 8.1? Does anyone else here have more information on this?

Services reported as missing:

MSKeyboardFilter

CSC

E1G60

kbldfltr

storvsp

Vid

vmbusr

vpcivsp

AppMgmt

Thanks in advance!

If you have this program stored on USB Flash Drive or similar, delete it

Download the latest version from HERE . It was recently updated by Grinler because of this.

Try more than one version (at least 3 are listed) with 2 renamed versions of the update.

Post back if it still shows the same problems with the new version.

Thank You.

Rkill 2.6.9 is up on the servers now. This should fix the issues with the reported missing services.

If you continue to have issues or ever have questions again...just post directly in the above support topic.

Thanks for the quick response! I should have considered that my copy was old before posting here. My apologies. I'll download the current version right away!

You're welcome on behalf of the Bleeping Computer community.

As a general rule Bleeping Computer does not close (lock) topics in this forum. An exception to that rule is malware related topics...we close topics when a member has been asked to (and does) start a new topic in the Malware Removal Logs forum and posts the required logs. Another exception is when we refer members to post their questions or comments in an existing discussion topic such as those for various ransomware infections.
