Hello. I've been going crazy trying to pick between a 2ms TN and a 5ms IPS monitor. I generally use my computer for gaming, but do not play many FPS games. My main question is whether or not I will be able to tell the difference between the response times. I know the IPS screens look nicer and have better viewing angles, but do not want the higher response time to be noticeable. I want to spend less than $200, and would appreciate any suggestions!  If it makes any difference in picking a monitor, I play almost all games at over 60 fps.  Thanks!

There are 1000ms in one second, if you divide 1000ms by 5ms you get 200 refreshes in 1 second. Considering most monitors have a refresh rate of 60-120hz (60-120 frames per second), either monitor would look the same refresh wise which means the ips panel for the better color might be the better choice.

Another thing to think about is the actual game fps the video card can run. Most games are considered to be running well at 60fps = 60hz.

5ms = 200hz = 200fps... More than enough in most cases. Some 3d monitors/tv's have a 240hz refresh rate in which case 5ms refresh time might be an issue, I would suspect those have lower gtg refresh rates 2ms, or 3ms.
