Until about two weeks ago when Avast (free) updated itself this event was accompanied by a voice stating that the program was updated. Now, however, the voice no longer appears (though it does give notification when a scan is completed) and as a result I don't know whether the program is updating itself. So then I clicked on the Settings tab and then on Update. A recent update is said to have taken place - but the time given is the current time. So I don't know whether the program is up to date or not. Can someone help? I am running XP and post my problem here as I guess it is a security matter if Avast has ceased updating.

This has been posted in their forum. The update notice and voice are no longer part of avast. A lot of people complained but avast thinks it's not necessary as you are constantly getting streaming updates. The settings tab is a known bug and will not be fixed until the next major update sometime in February.

Please do not start new threads or duplicate topics as this causes confusion and makes it more difficult to get the help you need to resolve your issues when asking for and receiving assistance elsewhere. Further, it necessitates staff spending time with housecleaning to remove or close those duplicate postings...time which could have been provided to others needing assistance. I have deleted your other thread to avoid confusion and moved this topic to the appropriate forum.

Thank you, JohnC_21 for your answer to my problem.

quietman7, I did not mean to double-post; I think I must have done something wrong when I edited my post.
