I have an HP psc ( 3 in1).  The scanning function has stopped working.  I have looked at postings on HP Forums but they concentrate on faults in the computer (WXP) or the USB connection. I think this may be wrong because printing and copying (which uses Scan) are OK and bcause the Scan function which normally works without a computer connection from a button on the pesc itself, does not work. The Scan button lights up but nothing happens.

All drivers have been updated.

Can anyone help with this?

Buried in the service manual is a routine to hold a single or even two keys (butttons) when turning it on.   This starts abuilt in program to identify the failing element and display a code.  Without the service manual, a complete service cleaning would most likely clear any faults.  Not an easy task, even for experienced techs.
