Fix For Broken sfc /scannow?

Just noticed your post and took a look around to see what the fix is for broken sfc /scannow.  I ran across a reference to this:




which apparently will resolve sfc /scannow difficulties.  Not sure I believe it could resolve all of them, but...  Anyway, this looks like it would be interesting to try (if I had a good image backup I admit).

btw just reading around, I noticed that users with these problems were being instructed to run a repair installation of XP.  Requires an installation disk, and it removes service packs and updates but doesn't touch drivers or personal files.
