Did your friend ever sync the iPhone with iTunes on the laptop? Or did they just use iCloud backup?

Also, was the music purchased on the iPhone or in iTunes on the laptop?

The reason I ask is that the music might already be on the laptop. If so, then it is just a matter of them getting it from where it is on the laptop onto the new phone.

If not, then the first step will be to download the purchased music from the iTunes Store.
