More specific information is needed before anyone can assist you....please read: Before you post about a problem, Some simple guidelines

What exactly happens when you try to run the program(s)?
Are you getting any error messages?

Hello,

I'll try to be more specific.  Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.  Avast Premier, Malwarebytes.

Computer freezes after a few minutes.  Unable to do anything other than a hard power reset.  The computer will start in safe mode and using MSConfig have been able to start it in diagnostic mode.

I've tried to run rkill, but unable to complete (freezes at "Performing miscellaneous checks" after killing 1 process).

All Avast services disabled and I am unable to reenable (access denied).

I created an Avast rescue disk on another uninfected computer which also has Avast Premier.  The rescue disk will not complete any scan, freezing at around 55% for a full scan or at 99% for a windows folder scan.

Thanks,

Marshall

Since you can enter safe mode, have you tried scanning in that mode?

Have you tried using System Restore to return to a previous state before the problems began?

Note for Windows 7 users: Check the "Show other restore points box" to see any restore older points that may not be listed.
