Good'ay All ~

While doing maintenance recently, I found these files:

Doom 666/udp DoomIdSoftware
Doom 666/tcp DoomIdSoftware

Both were in the c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\services. I have seen these in other PC's however, and there doesn't appear to be any problem with my computer.

My research shows these to be BBAADD  Should I delete them, and if so, any special procedure to follow?

I have not played Doom but had a run-in with SpyFalcon recently.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

My basic information is:

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1
Scan saved at 4:04:39 PM, on 6/1/2006
Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)

Respectfully,

Those are not files per se, those are the "identifiers" for the port use in playing online Doom games. Meaning that for all tcp/ip and udp functions the Doom game will use port 666. For more information see this link and scroll down to port 666 Well Known Port Numbers If you delete this information you will not be able to play Doom online. If you no longer play the online version or do not need updates then delete all components using the add remove programs function in control panel. Hope this sheds a little more light on your findings...

Be (Port 666) Safe
