I had started a topic on this forum titled - Is my computer infected? Please help. I followed all the steps as can be seen. I also posted on the antimalware forum with topic name - PUP and PUA detected plus Slow computer/internet, Need a complete check on comp (this topic is locked now). I also posted in the networking forum - Wifi/Router help needed!!!
However, the problems on my computer are still persisting. Here are the problems I am facing :
My browser freezes from time-to-time. I am the only one using the internet but the speed slows down. And then - I noticed something twice. I was viewing a video on youtube and usually there is a grey lock next to the https but after a while it became a grey triangle with an exclamation mark. And the video started chopping and was starting and stopping intermittently. I was using firefox.
I have used the PC tuner on my AV several times. As I had mentioned before, when I do an antimalware scan with my AV, the Generic Adware always shows in results which is in this location : HKEY_Local_machine/software/DeviceVM/MDES and I have gone into this physical location (Regedit) and deleted it several times but it appears again in the scan. I also said - Clean on the antimalware scan but it shows again when I do the scan. I had downloaded RevoUninstaller and removed some of the software I didn't need, but the generic adware popped up again. I am attaching a screenshot of additional threats in the scan. I think when I started using the wifi, the problems have multiplied. I was using a wired connection earlier.
Freezing of the browser happens mostly when I log into gmail but sometimes when I log into other sites as well. Plus the browser has closed by itself or I get logged out automatically from email accounts or other websites I visit. A few times, I have noticed that the mouse pointer moves by itself.
The Action center gives me a message that my AV is turned off but when I check the settings, it is turned on. Both my Windows defender firewall and AV firewall are turned on. It says that both firewalls being turned on can cause conflicts. Should I turn one of them off???
Plus regarding the windows updates - I am not sure which updates to install. It just says important updates and then I click on them. I don't have an option of selecting which ones.
I was told to post on the networking forum but I posted the results here because I had started my topic on this forum.
Please give me a complete set of steps to follow for settings for my computer and internet for proper security, like for eg. - the Network Access protection - should it be turned on?
Please help resolve this issue once and for all!!!
